According to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 3), Manchester United and Inter Milan are close to reaching a contract for the signing of custodian Andre Onana.
The 27-year-old’s transfer to Manchester United has been the subject of two weeks of intense negotiations between the Red Devils and Inter, and a deal may ‘practically’ be reached soon.
The transfer fee between United and the Nerazzurri is reportedly close to being agreed upon, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. They’re prepared to provide Inter with the €52 million request.
Upon completion of the transaction, Onana will fly to Manchester to complete the necessary paperwork.
Based on how quickly the clubs resolve the payment terms for the fee, it is anticipated that the Cameroonian could travel on Sunday or Monday.
In the next 48 hours, Onana might be a member of Manchester United.
It will soon be official because Onana has already agreed to the terms of their personal relationship.
The former Ajax player has been in constant contact with United manager Erik ten Hag, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, there was “a phone call yesterday” to reassure him.
On Wednesday in Edinburgh, a preseason friendly will take place between the Red Devils and Lyon. Onana might be required to play some part in that game, according to Ten Hag.
The Cameroonian may not be included in the starting lineup, but if he has practised, he may be given important minutes in the second half.
Onana must finish his medical exam and execute his contract as soon as possible for that to occur.
The preseason for United in America will be very busy. It’s the ideal test because they are scheduled to play Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid, and Arsenal.
Although Onana is familiar with Ten Hag’s playing style, the back four still need time to gel. His preparation should go smoothly with the upcoming friendlies.
