Rasmus Hojlund is willing to join Manchester United, but there is still a long way to go before the Red Devils are able to lure the £85 million star to Old Trafford.
The Dane made an understated transition from Austrian team Sturm Graz to Atlanta only last summer. Due to his 6′ 3″ frame and flawless speed, he was able to draw parallels to Erling Haaland before the end of the 2022–23 season.
The uncommon combination occasionally made the young Scandinavian wonder impossible to defend against and helped him finish the season with nine goals in the league.
United is interested in the 20-year-old’s skill as they are looking for a fresh goal striker to lead their line. Additionally looking for a forward, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain may “come into the reckoning.”
The 20-time English winners are, nevertheless, the favourite when it comes to player will. Hojlund is eager to transfer to United, according to The Athletic. The young man acknowledged earlier this year that he watched Cristiano Ronaldo play at Old Trafford.
Convincing Atlanta to sell its finest asset is still a problem. Hojlund is valued by the Bergamo-based club at 100 million euros (£85 million), a sum that Man Utd’s management deems “excessive.”
Erik ten Hag’s squad has a number of gaps that need to be filled, and United are having trouble meeting all of their aims on their tight budget—which is reportedly around £100 million. The Red Devils have already secured Mason Mount in a move worth up to £60 million, and they are in negotiations with Inter Milan to sign Andre Onana.
Man Utd reportedly made an offer that included players in part exchange for Hojlund and also recommended separate loans in order to reach a solution with Atalanta. However, the Italian organisation is insistent that they should receive the whole sum for their hero.
