According to reports, Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Manchester United have reached a personal agreement.
Rasmus Hojlund will be joining Man United?
Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, was acquired by the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag in a £60 million deal earlier this summer.
With Mount possibly being the first of many players to enter Old Trafford in the coming weeks, the England international has signed a contract that runs through 2028 and will don the fabled number 7 shirt there.
A new custodian is needed after David de Gea announced that his 12-year relationship with the team is ending after his contract expired at the end of June.
With Fabrizio Romano indicating that a deal will be finalised by the end of next week, it appears that Andre Onana of Inter Milan is the top target in goal.
Personal terms have been agreed upon with the Cameroon international, and it appears that Hojlund has also reached an agreement with Old Trafford.
Manchester has been heavily linked to the forward this summer, and the club was rumoured to be preparing a £50 million bid for the international from Denmark.
A ‘huge new development’ in United’s efforts to sign Hojlund has reportedly occurred over the past 48 hours, according to Football Insider.
According to the report, negotiations for a transfer between Man United and Hojlund have reached an agreement on personal terms. The club’s top priority before the transfer window closes is to add a productive number nine, and it appears that Hojlund might be that player.
How is Rasmus Hojlund?
Hojlund is only 20 years old, but he already shows signs of making progress and has the makings of a future star. His Transfermarkt valuation shot to a career-high €45m after he signed for Atalanta just one year ago and contributed to 14 goals in 34 games the previous season.
Hojlund was praised by both Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini and his former manager Christian Ilzer, who called him a player with “incredible maturity” and said he is “similar to [Erling] Haaland.”
“Hojlund possesses a spirit, energy, and intensity in addition to a technical quality that is truly amazing.
“He still has a lot of room for growth. He is so fast over the 100 metres that he finishes in under 11 seconds without even trying very hard. He can move his legs very quickly and, given his height, has a low centre of gravity. He just keeps getting stronger every day, so I’m sure he’ll have a great career.
Jacek Kulig, a football talent scout, described Hojlund as “absolute monster in the making,” so Ten Hag may be wise to sign the left-footed striker.
This is due to the fact that Anthony Martial may be up for sale, and should he do so, United would be without a senior center-forward option, with Marcus Rashford serving primarily as a winger. Rashford would therefore be able to perform in his preferred role if the Red Devils were to sign someone like Hojlund, and a deal is imminent.
