Rasmus Hojlund, a target for Manchester United, is eager to move to Old Trafford this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
What is the most recent Rasmus Hojlund transfer news from Man United?
The Red Devils are beginning to make moves in the transfer market, with Mason Mount from Chelsea appearing to be the first significant addition of the summer. The England midfielder had a medical on Monday at Carrington in preparation for a transfer that will cost an initial £55 million plus an additional £5 million.
Erik ten Hag may have his eye on another midfielder after hearing that the Red Devils and Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina have reached a personal agreement.
A new striker appears to be on the Old Trafford radar alongside midfield reinforcements after Wout Weghorst’s loan period came to an end, while Antony Martial has reportedly been listed for sale.
Hojlund of Atalanta has been linked to a transfer to England, and last month it was rumoured that Ten Hag had even video-called him in preparation for a potential transfer.
Recent reports stated that Man United had submitted a €35 million (£31 million) opening bid, but Romano has provided an update. The transfer specialist claimed on Twitter that the Red Devils have not made an offer for the forward and will not overpay.
Romano did, however, add that Hojlund is in talks to join Man United this summer and is “super keen on the move” and would “love” to do so.
“Manchester United haven’t offered Rasmus Hojlund €35 million; it wouldn’t make sense because Atalanta want at least €60/70 million, but Man United won’t overpay.
“As talks progressed, Hojlund remained high on Man United’s list. Rasmus is very eager to move and would love to work for United.
Rasmus Hojlund: who is he?
Hojlund, who is only 20 years old, has experienced a meteoric rise in the past year since joining Atalanta from the Austrian team Sturm Graz. The Danish international, who was valued by Transfermarkt at €4.5m when he signed with the Serie A team, is now worth an astounding €45m.
The centre-forward with a left foot was described as “scary quick” by journalist Sacha Pisani. He played 34 games for Atalanta last season, scoring 10 goals and dishing out four assists. The athlete even admitted earlier this year that he was a Man United fan:
“Since you’ve asked, I won’t deny that I’m a huge Manchester United supporter.
“So, personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”
Gian Piero Gasperini, the manager of Atalanta, has also praised Hojlund, giving him the appearance of a rising star.
“Hojlund has a remarkable technical quality as well as a spirit, energy, and intensity.”
He still has a tonne of room to grow, too. He is so swift that even without exerting much effort, he completes the 100 metres in under 11 seconds. He can move his legs very quickly and has a low centre of gravity for his height. He just keeps getting stronger every day, so I have no doubt that he will have a successful career.
Therefore, Hojlund could be a great addition at Old Trafford both now and in the future. It will be interesting to see if a move occurs as a result of Romano’s update.
