After coming to terms to sign Mason Mount, Manchester United has now turned their attention to finding a new striker.
Are you joining Manchester United, Mason Mount?
In a deal worth a total of £60 million, the Red Devils appear to be close to signing Mount. In recent weeks, United made three offers for the 24-year-old, but a deal has finally been reached.
On Thursday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano gave the deal the infamous “here we go” signal, with Mount expected to start earning about £250,000 per week in Manchester.
Even so, this summer’s additions might not end with the England international.
What other players might Man United acquire this summer?
After the information about Mount’s impending transfer surfaced on Thursday evening, Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam provided a transfer update from Old Trafford. According to him, the Red Devils’ top priority right now is finding a new centre forward. He also made the intriguing claim that the team is also interested in finding new goalkeepers and right center-backs.
“Manchester United remains actively interested in making acquisitions this summer.
“A striker who can score goals like Marcus Rashford did last season is one of Erik ten Hag and his backroom team’s main targets right now. They want a striker to play right through the middle.
The right center-backs have also been on their radar. Early in the summer transfer window, they had been linked to Kim Min-jae, but we all know he won’t be going to Old Trafford now that he likely will be going to Bayern Munich.
then said McAdam:
David de Gea is not the only custodian Manchester United is actively looking for. Andre Onana, who worked with Ten Hag at Ajax, is a custodian of interest to Inter Milan.
According to appearances, United may soon be preparing to pay Inter Milan’s €50 million asking price for Onana. The club has been linked with a number of players in both attack and defence.
Despite the ongoing takeover drama, Ten Hag has cash this summer, so money could be spent on a new star striker.
In contrast, Man United was rumoured to be leading the race for Goncalo Ramos of Benfica, and Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt was the subject of contact. An ambitious move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe has been suggested.
It could be a busy few months in the market for a center-back, with Mount appearing to be the first player through the door. Axel Disasi of AS Monaco has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with United in pole position ahead of several other sides for the French defender.
