Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is “on the verge” of agreeing to a long-term contract renewal, claims reputable reporter Fabrizio Romano.

When will Marcu Rashford’s deal expire?
After rising through the various youth ranks at Old Trafford to become a regular member of Erik Ten Hag’s first team, the Premier League veteran has made a total of 359 senior appearances to date.

The England international, however, will be out of contract at the conclusion of next season, meaning that the upcoming window would be the Red Devils’ final chance to sell. He wouldn’t be short of potential suitors having established himself as their top offensive performer last season, and that would make him a hot commodity.

The Mirror claimed that Paris Saint-Germain was interested in the 25-year-old, but he insisted that his intention was always to stay with the team where he first played, and it appears that they have the same opinion about keeping him longer.

Romano revealed on Twitter that a deal between Man United and Rashford that would keep him at the team for the foreseeable future is close to being finalised. He noted:

Man United will be aware that Rashford has been crucial to their recent success, and given how productive he was in the final third once more last season, rewarding him with a better contract is nothing less than he merits.

The left winger, who is sponsored by Nike, recorded 98 shot-creating actions last season, which was the second-highest total in Ten Hag’s squad, and made 22 goal contributions (17 goals and five assists) in 35 Premier League appearances. This performance earned him six man-of-the-match awards.

It just goes to show how lost the team would be without their star man leading the line; therefore, the hierarchy should retain his services. In 2022/23, the £200k per week attacker was also recognised for his individual efforts by being named the top goalscorer in both the Europa League and the EFL Cup competitions.
