According to L’Equipe, Manchester United is almost ready to finalise the transfer of AS Monaco center-back Axel Disasi.

Although negotiations have not yet started, the France international hopes to join the Red Devils this summer.

This summer, Man United is looking to add a centre defender, and Napoli star A Kim Min-jae.

However, in case they are unsuccessful in obtaining the South Korean, they are keeping an eye on the French market for backup plans.

Disasi has been linked to a transfer to England for some time, and the Red Devils were reportedly interested in signing him in January.

The 25-year-old wants to leave Monaco after they placed sixth in Ligue 1 this season and missed out on qualifying for Europe.

Man United should have little trouble paying the Principality club’s demands, which range from €40 to €50 million for his talents.

The former Reims star participated in all 38 league games this season, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists.

Disasi also scored twice and provided an assist in eight Europa League contests, and he did it once in each of their two Champions League qualifying games.

Man United wants to get rid of Harry Maguire, and manager Erik ten Hag wants a defender who can provide Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez good cover and competition.

Disasi is the perfect candidate, and he is eager to play in the Premier League to impress the national team selectors.

His prospects of becoming a regular for France would increase if he moved to such a large team and league. He has played for France three times.

Disasi can also play at right back, and this versatility will be useful should he sign with Manchester United.
