Manchester United may have to “break the piggy bank” to sign two Bundesliga stars after making Adrien Rabiot a “formal contract offer.”
When United and Juventus reached an agreement on a price somewhere around £15 million last summer, Erik ten Hag wanted Rabiot.
However, when John Murtough travelled to Turin to meet with the player’s mother, who serves as his agent, the Rabiots demanded a staggering £240,000 per week in pay.
Instead, United passed and signed Casemiro, which turned out to be a good decision. However, L’Equipe reported earlier this week that United will make another attempt to sign Juventus free agent Rabiot this summer.
The Rabiots may now want even more per week given that United would be signing the France international for free, but RMC Sport claims a ‘formal contract offer’ has been made.
Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach is another player United are keeping an eye on in case they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Rabiot, or even if they succeed given Ten Hag’s rumoured desire for multiple midfield additions.
Gladbach reportedly want “at least €50m” (roughly £44m) plus add-ons for the 22-year-old, who primarily plays in a defensive midfield position, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Three clubs are currently leading the race for Manu Kone, according to Romano, who listed United as one of them. Kone is a France U21 international. One is Chelsea, without a doubt.
They have a long list of players. Romeo Lavia and Declan Rice must be considered as well, and we are aware that they are also keeping an eye on Manu Kone. There will be Chelsea.
“Chelsea, United, and PSG are also keeping an eye on the player,” said the source.
Randal Kolo Muani, a star for Eintracht Frankfurt who has 22 goals and 15 assists for the German team this season and made an impression for France at the World Cup, is reportedly still a target for United. This is according to RMC Sport.
The 24-year-old player Kolo Muani “pleases Ten Hag very much, and it would not be surprising to see the Red Devils go on the offensive to attach the services of the player”
“United could indeed break the piggy bank to recover big French talents,” the report’s conclusion reads.
